Jajarkot- A team comprising Chief District Officer Lalitkumar Basnet, Deputy Superintendent of Police Shyam Khatry and Kushe rural municipality chair Hari Chandra Basnet has cleaned up hashish farming cultivated in one-and-a-half ropani land at Tharpubharma in Kushe-6.
This is the first-ever incident in the district where high-level security officials themselves stood in the field to destroy hashish farming.
CDO Basnet said the campaign to eliminate hashish farming has begun from Bharma of Kushe rural municipality.
The campaign would be taken to the wards of all local levels in the district, Basnet informed.
Nepal government has signed an international treaty which does not permit production, purchase and sale and transportation of bandit drugs, including marijuana and hashish, he said, adding public awareness drive against drug abuse would be rolled out in villages.
Likewise, DSP Khatry said Nepal Police has ever been amidst the people of Nepal as a law enforcement agency of the government.
